Apple has released updates for iOS/iPadOS 14 systems, which have been marked as build 18B92. Before installing the update, we recommend making backups.

The update to iOS/iPadOS 14.2 can be downloaded and installed directly from the device. To do so, go to Phone/Tablet Settings, go to General and Updates. Finally, press Download and install. The second way is to connect the device to your computer, start the Finder, select the iPhone/iPad from the list and then click on General, select Check for updates and accept.

The iOS 14.2 update contains more than 100 new emotions and eight new wallpapers, as well as improvements and bug fixes for the iPhone.

  • More than 100 new emotions including pets, food, faces, home appliances and musical instruments, as well as inclusive and other emotions.
  • Eight new wallpapers available in both light and dark versions.
  • The Magnifier function on the iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone 12 Pro Max can detect people in the vicinity and inform about the distance to them using the LiDAR sensor.
  • iPhone 12 is compatible with the MagSafe leather case.
  • Optimized battery charging minimizes the time it takes for the AirPods to fully charge, which slows down battery aging.
  • The headphones' sound level alerts warn you when too loud a sound can affect your hearing.
  • New AirPlay tools allow you to stream content throughout your home.
  • Intercom can deliver messages to HomePods and Mini HomePods via iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch, AirPods and CarPlay.
  • Apple 4K TV can play stereo surround sound and Dolby Atmos on the HomePods.
  • Anonymous statistics can be made available for the Exposure Notification function to participating health authorities.

This update also includes bug fixes that may have caused the following problems:

  • Displaying applications in the Dock on the Start screen in the wrong order;
  • black screen after starting the Camera application;
  • skipping keyboard taps on the locked screen when trying to enter code;
  • default setting of reminders for a date or time in the past;
  • empty Photo application widget;
  • display of the maximum temperature in degrees Celsius in the Weather widget, despite being set as a unit of Fahrenheit degrees;
  • incorrect time of end of precipitation on the precipitation diagram in the nearest hour (in the Weather application);
  • interrupted recording of voice notes by incoming calls;
  • black screen while playing video from Netflix;
  • unexpected closing of the Apple Watch application after opening it;
  • no synchronization of GPS data of workout routes and health data between Apple Watch and iPhone for some users;
  • incorrect marking of audio content as "Played" on the CarPlay desktop;
  • no possibility of wireless device charging.
