The first Apple chip that will be the heart of the new Mac is the M1 processor. It is a SOC chip made in 5 nanometers technology with an eight-core CPU.

It contains 16 billion transistors. Four of the cores of the main processor provide the highest possible performance, and another four of the fastest possible performance. The chip also includes an eight-core GPU. Neural Engine chip supporting machine learning and the so-called safe enclave, ensuring the safety of user data.

The new chip also offers, according to Apple, the highest performance per-watt of all laptop processors.
